Kindergarten Pants!

My son, B, just started kindergarten a few weeks ago. I am completely guilty of making many more easy skirts for my daughter and neglecting tricky things like inseams – which means my little guy gets jealous of the mama-made clothes!

So I took a special trip to my favorite fabric store, Z Fabrics, and picked up a few special pieces to make some school clothes just for him! The first make was a pair of pants loosely based on Anna Maria Horner’s All Set pattern (while I mostly use the pattern pieces, these instructions are tricky for me to follow, and I haven’t tried the reversible feature, so I have just made up some parts…) Fabric included navy Kona cotton and a sweet little coordinate of busy cars.

I loved whipping up these pants – even though I had to shave several inches off the size 5 pattern since my little guy is, indeed, little! Next time I might even adjust down a size because the pants also were a wee bit more wide-legged than I intended.

Overall, B loves these pants and we can’t wait for weather to get to fall temps so that he can pair them with a fleece and do his favorite thing: climb on the playground!
