My goals for Me Made May this year are 1) wear at least 3 handmade garments each week and 2) work on (complete, I hope!) two garments to add to my wardrobe.
I know a lot of people post their me-mades daily, but that was just not realistic for me this year. As a stay-at-home mom, with very few plans until I am fully vaccinated, I just don’t even leave the house that often! So this goal is a realistic challenge for me that I hope will allow me to discover any gaps in my current handmade wardrobe.

Closet Core Patterns Cielo top in Birch Fabrics organic triple gauze
Liesl & Co Everyday Skirt in Brussels Washer Rayon-Linen blend
This is the first Everyday skirt of… probably at least 10 that I have made! I love the fit, and I make very few adjustments to the pattern compared to my measurements. This denim-look color in the soft Brussels fabric makes it so very wearable, all year long.
The Cielo top is an awesome boxy tee that I tried for the first time last summer. I can’t wait to make a few more for this coming summer – especially in a light fabric, it is just so cool and lightweight for summer!

Made by Rae Ruby top in London Calling Lawn (with Brussels Washer Rayon-Linen blend for yoke)
RTW jeans
The Made by Rae Ruby was one of the first garment-making classes I attended, and I lived in these tops and dresses for a few summers. I have come to prefer the tops – I just love them with jeans or summer shorts. This particular fabric just makes me so happy every time I wear it!

Fancy Tiger Crafts Fen dress with long sleeve option in Art Gallery Rayon Challis
The Fen dress is another TNT for me – long sleeve for winter, short sleeve for summer, and I love to play around with the hem length because it really can make for a different look! Although this rayon challis was very finicky for me to work with around the neckline (disclaimer, my mom actually was the one who finished it for me!), I love the finished garment so much. Because of the color and longer sleeves, this is probably my last time wearing this for the season… tiny tear.

Helen’s Closet March Top in Manchester yarn-dyed cotton
I fell in love with the March Top from Helen’s Closet as soon as it came out – it immediately jumped to the top of my queue! I found this Manchester yarn-dyed cotton at my local fabric store (shout-out to Z Fabrics!) and I hope that it will be flowy enough for the lovely sleeves and peplum.
Helen does such a great job with making the instructions clear and easy to follow. So far I have cut out the top, completed interfacing, constructed the slit at the top of the yoke, and attached the yoke to the top. I’m hoping to finish this up to wear in the coming weeks of May!
