My Body Model is easily my favorite sewing planning tool. It is such a great way to sketch out how things will look on your own body type, not some skinny fashion model.
This month, My Body Model hosted a sketching challenge called 3X3. I chose to create a capsule wardrobe for the transition from summer to fall here in Maine – when sometimes you need layers and sweaters in the morning, but breezy tank tops in the afternoon!
My 3X3 is a combination of me-made and RTW pieces. Some pieces are already in my wardrobe, and a few pieces need to be sewn up to complete the capsule. With three tops, three bottoms, and three layering pieces, I have tons of possibilities in this transitional wardrobe!

I included:
- Cielo top in Birch Organics triple gauze
- Everyday skirt in linen-rayon from Robert Kaufman
- RTW gray cardigan
- Hinterland dress in linen-rayon from Robert Kaufman
- Willow Tank in Nani Iro lawn
- Free Range Slacks (x2) in linen-rayon from Robert Kaufman
- RTW olive roll neck sweater
- Cielo top in black & tan batik from my stash
You can also see my paper doll play of some different outfit combinations. I need to hurry up and finish the remaining pieces so that I can actually wear all of these options!

Finally, here is one of my favorite options for a sunny September day here in Maine. I got to wear this out for an outdoor lunch date with my husband – our first day in over 6 months, wow!

If you have not checked out My Body Model yet, what are you waiting for? Don’t miss out!
