Me Made May is moving right along and I am having a lot of fun getting dressed in my me-mades! This past week I wore four outfits including handmade garments AND I completed the March top (another blog post on that one to come)
Honestly, most days I can still get away with wearing just athletic wear or loungewear… one of the benefits of being home with my kids this year. So Me Made May has been a fun reason to actually revisit my spring wardrobe and think about new ways to pair things.
I have also identified some real gaps in my wardrobe – I need pants!! As much as I would love to work on a few spring dresses, I am going to prioritize making pants for my second garment in May.

Sew Liberated Hinterland Dress with short sleeves and partial placket in Brussels Washer Rayon-linen Blend
The Hinterland Dress is another tried and true pattern that I have made multiple times. This was the first version I made with sleeves. This color is so versatile in spring and summer! Another thing I love with this pattern is the bias binding – I love to find a contrasting quilting cotton so that my dress has cute insides, too. Great scrapbuster!

Liesl & Co Everyday Skirt in Brussels Washer Rayon-Linen blend
Everytime I wear this Ogden cami, I cannot believe I have only made one. It probably has a little bit to do with the fact that sewing with rayon is just not really my favorite thing to do – even though wearing it feels so wonderful!
Styled here with another one of my Everyday skirts. Over time I have made the skirt just a little bit longer than the pattern – I like those extra 1-2 inches for modesty when I am chasing around my kids!

Helen’s Closet March Top in Manchester yarn-dyed cotton (jade color)

Hooray! I finished up my first garment of May! This March top is so voluminous and fun! The fabric is not quite as flowy as I wanted it to be… but I think that it will continue to get softer and drapier as I wash it. I am working on a blog post just for this shirt – but for now I will say that I loved Helen’s directions and the construction of this top was really fun!

Sew Liberated Hinterland Dress – sleeveless view with bias cut front and extended length in striped Rayon-linen Blend from Stonemountain and Daughter
I made this dress last summer and pretty much lived in it! I really like the hack of making a Hinterland without a placket – it makes such a quick sew! For this one, I added the waist tie which I think is a great detail. I also added some length by adding a strip of fabric to the bottom of the skirt – and I used the selvedge of the fabric because it had such a fun fuzzy texture. Since I have already busted this dress out in May, it seems possible that this will be my dress of the summer this year as well!
